Syedra Ancient City in Antalya Opens to Tourism

In the Ancient City of Syedra, which was revealed after 5 years of excavations in the Alanya district of Antalya, the ancient walking route has been unearthed and offered to tourism service.City; It stands out with its columned street, baptismal cave, bath, parliament building, approximately 164 square meters of floor mosaic depicting the 12 tasks of Hercules, statues of the Goddess of Victory "Nike", stairs connecting the streets, infrastructure systems created for clean water, parliament and water cisterns comes out.

"We brought to light very important findings"

Ergürer noted that they carried out rescue excavations two years ago on the seaside of the city, which was established at an altitude of 400 meters, and stated that they identified the port and the streets and connection roads connected to it during these works.

Noting that the works later shifted to different areas, Ergürer said:We concentrated our work on the early history of the city in the bath, parliament, spring cave and baptism cave.We started working on the stairs, one of the most striking features of the city, with small works in 2021.Our work accelerated this year.The stairs leading from the west gate to the 100-meter-high colonnaded street are currently being overcome.The city has large streets parallel to each other and streets and stairs connecting these streets.We will try to complete these stairs this year. When this work is completed, a complete itinerary will emerge in the city."
